“So where have you been?” you may ask. “What happened to my Substack “Writing For Your Life” newsletter?”
Several weeks ago, I emailed the following note to my subscribers:
We all need to stay focused on our safety right now. “Writing For Your Life” will be back over your email this week.
Please take care of yourselves and your families in the meantime.
It’s been more than a week. So what happened?
I took the time as a writer to try to make a difference. As always.
I marched. I protested against racism and for reform. People I’ve known passed from Covid-19. I wrote numerous articles for Medium and posts on social media expressing my views and my experiences. As I’ve long said, a writer should speak and make actionable their truths. Always.
That’s part of the dangerous job of being a writer.
I wanted to send you this special Sunday update so I could bring you up to speed and also share our new Medium newsletter. This morning I published our first weekly issue. See here:
Writing For Your Life: Sunday Medium Newsletter
Over 200 articles on writing — and film and television — are included therein.
I hope the articles inspire your writing careers.
The “bonus” I alluded to in the title above is a series of articles in the newsletter on the craft and business of screenwriting, that I now write for ScreenCraft.
See here, if preferred:
In the meantime, our regular Substack schedule has resumed. You will receive a new Substack “Writing For Your Life” newsletter in your inbox every Tuesday and Thursday.
Thank you for sticking with me. Many exclusives are forthcoming.
Best,
Joel Eisenberg
