“1000 Days of Writing”
My collection of Medium.com articles on the craft and business of writing will be released as a book in 2021. As many of you are still quarantined, you can read the entire work-in-progress here.
I have an ulterior motive for sharing this today.
I was a special education teacher for ten years, and of late I’ve been missing those days. My students were substance abusers and gang members, primarily, and though I would never return to the field as I presently write and produce full-time, I nonetheless enjoy sharing my experiences with those who can benefit from them.
This was the thought process behind the “Writing For Your Life” e-newsletter and Medium publication, in part sharing information from one who practices what he preaches. Theory is fine, but for me credibility must spring from a source that has been there.
I posted the below collection, in-progress, on Medium earlier today:
“499 Days to Go: The Sequel to 501 Days of Writing”
The original collection, “501 Days of Writing,” is linked inside.
The book will be a combined effort, featuring over 200 articles when all is said and done, based on 1000 days of writing. (I spend the remaining days writing about the arts and social issues, as well as my own novels, screenplays, and teleplays.)
I would like for you to have this today to help you with your present circumstance, regardless of what that may be. Interviews with established authors such as Brad Meltzer, Clive Barker, Laurell K. Hamilton and others are included in the above link (click inside to the original “501 Days” collection), as are practical markets for your work — both prose and screenplays — realities behind the publishing and “Hollywood” industries, and more.
Some of what is in these collections will apply to you, some will not. Utilize what works for you and discard the rest.
Also, please let me know what you would like to see from me. I would like to know how I can help you. Further, if you can let me know the specific topics you would like for me to address, in both the book and this e-newsletter, that would be appreciated.
I will do my best to meet your needs.
Thank you for reading.
Best,
Joel Eisenberg
